When to Check Your Transmission

- The engine revs, but the vehicle does not move or accelerates very slowly.
- You find fluid under the vehicle.
- The vehicle shifts early or late at improper intervals.
- Putting the pedal to the floor results in no surge of power.
- Clunks or rough feeling when shifting into gear. Any strange noises.
- Shifting is erratic, changing unexpectedly.
- The vehicle moves while in Neutral or tries to move in Park.
- The vehicle stalls or chugs on taking off.
- Engine braking does not work in some gears or shift positions.
- It is hard to move the shift handle.
- You need to place the shift handle slightly off Park or Neutral to start the vehicle, or if the shift indicator does not point to the right range.
